About

2004 Women's Bay Sheffield

The Bay Sheffield is the state’s richest and most famous footrace which has been run every year since 1887, meaning the event is celebrating 135 consecutive years. The Bay Sheffield is a two day athletics carnival, held on 27th and 28th December at ACH Stadium (Glenelg Oval). Athletes come from all over Australia to compete. This year it has two Tokyo Olympic champions competing in the 3200m event on Monday 27th December and in the Mile on the 28th of December. Athletes compete in handicapped racing which aims to give people of all abilities a chance to win the lucrative prize-money events. The feature event is the 120m races held on Tuesday 28th December where athletes are competing for the $10,000 first prize.

The Bay Sheffield is much more than just an event for athletes. It boasts a carnival atmosphere with entertainment for children, food trucks, coffee van and a VIP area where you get the best seats to view the finish line while being served food and drinks.
