About The Bay Sheffield

The Bay Sheffield Carnival began in 1887 as a celebration of our State and has become a highly anticipated and renowned event that has been running consecutively for 138 years.

As South Australia’s most richest and most prestigious foot racing event, the Bay Sheffield Carnival draws athletes from across the country to compete annually at Colley Reserve, the home of Pro Running in South Australia. Save the date for this year’s event on the 28th and 29th of December.

The feature races for men and women are run over 120 metres (competing for their share in of a $16,000 prize pool), while other races cater for juniors, veterans, para-athletes, men and women over distances from 70 to 3200 metres.

Athlete nominations for The Bay Sheffield will open in November each year and the event is free for spectators across two exciting days of racing.

The South Australian Athletic League’s (SAAL) handicapping system gives runners of different abilities a chance to be competitive and provides close and exciting finishes.
